All grades participate in physical activity programs for children from Kindergarten to Year 6, with a focus on fundamental movement skills.
Sport and physical activity is a valued and accepted part of our school's curriculum, contributing to the development of the whole child. It provides a vehicle for social, physical, emotional and moral learning and is an important expression of our culture.
Carnivals
Sporting carnivals, including swimming, cross country and athletics, are held annually. From these carnivals, teams are selected to compete in Zone, Area and State Level Carnivals.
Be Skilled, Be Fit
Students from Kindergarten to Year 6 participate in the Be Skilled, Be Fit sports program. This is a program that focuses on developing fundamental motor skills and fitness. Students are encouraged to value an active lifestyle. This program is conducted by qualified instructors and comes at a cost to parents.
Primary Schools Sports Association (PSSA)
There are opportunities to represent our school at inter-school sports competitions. As a NSW public school we benefit from the opportunities for shared activities and competitions with other schools, coordinated by school sport associations.
Matthew Pearce Public School is a member of the Castle Hill Primary Schools Sports Association (Castle Hill PSSA). Students from Years 4 to 6 have the opportunity to trial for PSSA summer and winter sports.
PSSA Summer Sports: Basketball, Touch Football, Cricket, T-Ball and Softball.
